Suggested Reading: Black History Month!
A round-up of some books by Black authors I have enjoyed! Ummm, as you can see I don’t read a ton of literary fiction so the list is a little unbalanced
In no particular order:
NON-FICTION
Brother, I’m Dying by Edwidge Danticat – autobiography/memoir (extremely emotional read, so proceed with caution! I finished it a week ago and I’m still reeling)
Hood Feminism (Notes from the Women that a Movement Forgot) by Mikki Kendall
The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley
Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good by adrienne maree brown
Freedom is a Constant Struggle by Angela Y. Davis
This Book is Anti-Racist by Tiffany Jewell

Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender (historical fiction/fairytale)
The Record Keeper by Agnes Gomillion (dystopian fiction)
The City We Became by NK Jemisin (urban fantasy/LGBTQ – became a fast favorite of mine after one read. Looking forward to reading it again)
